Educational Videos on U.S. Migration to Chip-based EMV Payments Now Available on EMV-Connection.com

Free education for all stakeholders including card issuers, acquirers/processors, retailers, and transit operators

Princeton Junction, N.J., May 9, 2013–The Smart Card Alliance released today a series of videos to educate U.S. payments industry stakeholders on considerations for the U.S. migration to chip-enabled EMV payments on its EMV Connection website. Filmed in February at the 2013 Payments Summit, the ”How EMV Changes Payment” video series features industry experts from the Smart Card Alliance Payments Council and EMV Migration Forum.

“As the U.S. continues to migrate to chip-enabled EMV payments, industry stakeholders are looking for information on the changes and new processes necessary to issue EMV cards and accept EMV payment transactions,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. “These workshop-style videos provide in-depth education on all EMV-related considerations that executives can watch at their own pace at work, at home, or while traveling.”

The free videos, along with presentation slides, are available at http://www.emv-connection.com/video-workshop-how-emv-changes-payment/. They include discussion of what changes issuers and acquirers/processors need to make, how the EMV testing and certification processes differ from current processes, how retailers can plan for EMV migration, and what transit agencies need to consider in migration.

  • Fundamentals of EMV Payments
    Presenter: Guy Berg, MasterCard Worldwide
    This session provides a comprehensive overview of EMV payments, including the EMV transaction flow and options for card authentication, cardholder verification and transaction authorization.

    This session provides an overview of EMV implementation options and considerations for issuers, including card interface choices, support for offline/online PIN, personalization and host system changes, and transaction authorization process.

The videos are added to a vast array of educational materials on the United States’ move to EMV chip technology contained on the EMV Connection website. The site provides up-to-date information on the status of EMV migration, along with tutorials and educational resources that will assist with migration. The site is designed so that all major EMV stakeholders–issuers, merchants, payment processors/acquirers and consumers–can easily find valuable information like frequently asked questions, white papers, videos, slideshows, and links to other EMV resources that will best help them travel their own unique EMV migration path.
