US Payments Forum Webinar Series to Provide Comprehensive Look at Mobile Wallets in the US

Four-part webinar series launching in 2019, covering mobile wallet models, security and strategic considerations for implementation

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., December 6, 2018 – The U.S. payments industry is undergoing an immense transformation – from the EMV chip migration to the development of new mobile payments solutions to an accelerating shift to ecommerce transactions – and with it brings the potential for widespread success in the mobile and digital wallet market. To address growing interest and questions on how to best leverage the technology, the U.S. Payments Forum is hosting a four-part webinar series on the U.S. mobile wallet landscape. Attendees of this webinar series will come away with an in-depth understanding of mobile wallet models, security approaches and key considerations for adoption.

“Mobile and Digital Wallets Lunch and Learn Series” launches in January 2019. To register for all four webinars in the series, visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3089908444440419330.

“It can be challenging to keep up with the technology and business drivers affecting the rapidly evolving mobile wallet landscape because there are so many choices and so much potential for innovation. This webinar series will sort out all of the variables and answer the most pressing questions around mobile wallet implementation from both issuer and merchant perspectives. I urge stakeholders to attend all four sessions in order to get the most comprehensive look at the past, present and future of mobile wallets,” said Randy Vanderhoof, director of the U.S. Payments Forum.

The webinar series will begin on January 9, 2019 and be held every other week through February 20, 2019. The dates/times, topics and speakers are:

  • Mobile Wallet Landscape, Models and Processes – Mina Malak, G+D Mobile Security; Deborah Baxley, PayGility Advisors
    January 9, 2019, 2pm ET/11am PT
This webinar will provide a “101” for what a wallet is, the main wallets models in market, the main differences and the factors that have led to the success or failure of each, and the technologies and processes used in their implementation
  • Mobile Wallet Security Technologies and Approaches – Marianne Crowe, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
    January 23, 2019 2pm ET/11am PT
Not all wallets are created equal from a security perspective. This webinar will provide perspectives on the different security technologies implemented in wallets
  • Strategic Considerations for Merchants – Laura Townsend, Merchant Advisory Group
    February 6, 2019 2pm ET/11am PT
The changing mobile landscape and the volatility of wallet providers make it difficult for merchants to know with whom to partner or how to prioritize mobile features and products. This webinar will review key strategic considerations for merchants implementing a mobile wallet strategy
  • Strategic Considerations for Financial Institutions – Art Harper, PSCU
    February 20, 2019 2pm ET/11am PT
Issuers must take multiple considerations into account when developing a mobile wallet strategy. This webinar will review key strategic considerations for issuers to assess technology and features in the chaotic mobile landscape

Those who participate in all four webinar sessions and participate in a short online post-session quiz will receive a certificate of participation from the U.S. Payments Forum and a registration discount to the 2019 Payments Summit.

This webinar series was developed by the U.S. Payments Forum’s Communication and Education Working Committee and Mobile and Contactless Payments Working Committee. To learn more about the Forum’s working committees, visit http://www.uspaymentsforum.org/working-committees-sigs/.
